Palms of Glory is the first episode of the first season of The Big Valley. It first aired on September 15, 1965. 

Plot[]

The railroad has hired men to force the farmers and ranchers of Stockton off their land. The Barkleys join with the rest of the valley to help fight them off. While at home an angry young man, Heath, shows up claiming to be the deceased Tom Barkley's illegitimate son. - Source: tv.com

  • The photos of Nick, Heath, Audra, and Victoria seen during the opening credits were taken from scenes in this episode.
  • During the opening credits, Lee Majors is introduced as Heath instead of Heath Barkley to not ruin the surprise of his family origins.
  • Heath's shirtless appearance in the bunkhouse is the first of his many "beefcake" moments.

Goof[]

  • After the riders arrive at the ranch, the sheriff's horse has no person on top. In the next scene the sheriff gets off his horse. The scenes were out of order.
